Connector

A connector is an electromechanical connecting element that creates a detachable electrical connection between cables, wires or electronic assemblies. Connectors allow electrical contacts to be made and separated quickly and safely, without tools or permanent intervention in the cable. They typically consist of a housing, contact elements, insulating bodies and mechanical locking features.

Depending on the application, different connector types are used, from micro connectors for signal transmission to high-current connectors for power applications. Important selection criteria are current-carrying capacity, dielectric strength, degree of protection (IP rating), contact reliability and ambient conditions. Industrial connectors must also withstand mechanical loads, vibration, temperature fluctuations and chemical influences. Professional mounting and contacting of the connectors is decisive for the durability and functional safety of the entire electrical installation.
